Guangzhou

This enormous city seems to have a bit of everything, from AYOR cruising in People's Park, to dangerous but cute pickpockets in Haizhu Square, to saunas and even a few bars. I would be most interested in the dangerous pickpocket migrant workers in Haizhu park. If they are not too old and cute and are willing to show their Chinese gay Asian cocks and jerk off for a few yuan. Prostitution is illegal, so beware.

Vladivostok

Whether we like it or not, but Russia's Siberia is part of the Far East. I've never been there but I imagine it is full of the people that you can see stumbling out of chartered planes at Bumalabum Airport. Pasty white people with an unhealthy pallor. Overweight, unfashionable and ugly white people. So is there any gay Asian life in Vladivostok, or do all the people from there have to come here? I could not find anything of interest in Google.

Mongolia

I don't know how to spell Ulan Bator, the capital city of Mongolia. Ulaan Batoor, Ulan Batur? Whatever, my spell checker underlines them all, except Ulan Bator. My spellchecker also underlines the word spellchecker. Anyway, there's this nice blog by a Mongolian guy, with plenty of pictures and lots of writing in cyrillic (spelling?) script. One More On Pyongyang

Now that the New York Philharmonic is in Pyongyang and played the American anthem, gay Asian life has probably blossomed in this sad city. The orchestra arrived in style with an Asiana 747. That would befit a bunch of queens alright. When the gods descended from the enormous belly of the beast they swarmed the tarmac in chaotic fashion, to the consternation of the North Korean guards. Lovely! Show those dour North Koreans what life is about!

Pyongyang

If you type "gay pyongyang" in Google, a link from the gay.com personals is returned  to "find gay singles and gay dating in Pyongyang". I can hardly imagine that to be possible in this socialist paradise or could it be that that that chubby dictator Kim Jung Il has a secret fondness for gay Asian boys? Type in Kim Jung Il in Google, and you even get phone numbers for various Kim Jungs. They must be he nephews or something.

Lhasa

Shame on me, in this long series about gay Asian cites I have not yet mentioned Lhasa in Tibet. I remember reading a story a couple of years ago in the now defunct Thai Guys magazine about a trip to Tibet. The author had some fun with some cute and horny lads of the high plateau. There were some pictures of very healthy looking mountain boys. If you have sex at that altitude you will need an oxygen mask by the time you reach orgasm. In our round-the-world trip researching gay Asian city life we have arrived in Paris. Many years ago I went to visit there with a friend of mine. The year before we had gone to Thailand, I think, so my friend who is a very active cruiser for Asian boys. Sure enough, he met up with a Vietnamese guy he cruised in the metro. I had to stay out of the hotel room for a few hours while my friend did his thing with the boy from Vietnam. Is this still an indicator of the gay Asian scene in Paris?

Surabaya

Maybe you haven't ever heard of this place, but it's one of the larger gritty cities in Indonesia on the Island of Java about 1 hour flight from Jakarta. Home to many cute Asian boys with the beautiful dark complexions that are common in Indonesia. Except for Utopia, I could not find any English language web sites that have much to report on this city. And even Utopia's listing don't make you want to detour there. I'm sure there's plenty available, you just need to know where to look.

Los Angeles

I read on a blog somewhere (alas, I lost the link) that Los Angeles has a gay Asian hip-hop bar! That would be interesting. If they're not all sticky rice, of course. I like the hip-hop look, those baggy pants can be very sexy on an Asian boy, together with a nice hat to make the outfit complete. That way they can easily seduce any slutty rice queen worth her age and her looks. Back to Los Angeles, it's years ago since I was there, and went to the bars and clubs of West Hollywood. It was OK, full of self important buffed California boys. They're not so my type.

London

London doesn't have as much of a gay Asian scene as cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, for example. That said, I think London is perhaps the most cosmopolitan city in all of the European Union. In London you don't feel the stifling provinciality that you can feel in places like Berlin or Copenhagen. All nice places, but too small to support a gay Asian scene. It would be nice if the the islanders would catch up with the continent, and start to use Euros, the Schengen zone, perhaps even the same time zone. Right now the half hour tunnel trip is a trip from one country to another with real passport control, different money, different time zone and even, horrors, driving on the left.

New York

It's time to broaden our horizons and move further afield to explore gay Asian life in the city. So today New York. I must admit I haven't been there in many years and these days I don't feel much like going there anyway. At one time in my life I did live there, and the scene for gay Asians and their admirers took place mainly in a disco called Club 58 (?), and another after hours bar, the Star Club, or something like that, on First avenue. The Asians were a varied bunch, lots of Chinese guys, some Koreans, and a sprinkling of South-East Asians from Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and maybe Singapore.

Patong

One of the three Ps that form the glorious triangle of sex for sale in Thailand. Patpong, Pattaya and Patong. That "sex for sale" includes the gay Asian segment of course, and in Patong you can find plenty in Paradise Complex. I find that name "paradise" a bit of a misnomer. The whole area has a violent undercurrent, hidden from the casual observer. Some sort of mafia vibe. I don't feel that vibe in Bangkok or Pattaya, although it's there probably just the same.

Jakarta

I am running out cities worth mentioning as far as gay Asian life goes, but of course I can not leave out the capital of Indonesia, a teeming metropolis that reminds me of Bangkok before the Skytrain: non stop traffic jams and no way to escape them. I've had a massage with a happy ending at an upscale hotel there, but it required introduction by a local. Utopia Asia mentions a few places, but nothing that I would go out of my way for.

Thimpu

Bhutan is one of these countries that very few people ever get to visit. But you should if you have a chance. Bhutan is a cross between Thailand and Switzerland, a sort of Thailand in the Alps, with plenty of stunning nature, very friendly people and many a handsome mountain lad. Although I found nothing of the gay Asian persuasion on my travels there, the country is a definite must for a visit!

Dili

There's not much to find about gay Asian life in the capital of East Timor, that brand new, but tragic country. A certain Martin Foreman writes on his site that there may be 15 active homos out on town on any given night. I think that's a bit too small of a number to recommend Dili for a detour.

Maldives

I don't hear much about the Maldives and gay life. I've never been but it strikes me as a very romantic destination for couples. Since it's a muslim country I have no idea how a gay couple would be treated, but according to the forums on tripadvisor.com, it's all pretty laid back

Cox's Bazar

Now which self respecting gay Asian admirer would not want to go to place in Asia that calls itself Cox's Bazar. The ultimate Festival of Tools! Alas, it is located somewhere in Southern Bangladesh which is not a country I long to visit. However, looking at the photos in the Wikipedia entry the beach looks quite attractive. I wonder if the local Bangladeshi boys are suitable for me as well?

Macao

Another one of these slightly out-of-the-way places that doesn't jump out when thinking about gay places to go in Asia. After some research I found a site called gaymacao.com, but that leads to a dating site. It seems gay life there is non-existent and I guess it's better to go to Hong Kong instead?

Brunei

This place should not actually make the list, as it is a hyper puritanical little muslim country with no gay Asian nightlife whatsoever. That said, this little place on the edge of Borneo has still plenty of jungle left where you might encounter penis sheath wearing headhunters. Talking about headhunters, they had some pretty bizarre coming-of-age rituals in the past. But that's for another day!

Manilla

The only encounter I ever had there was in a huge shopping mall with a street boy. I took him to my little hotel room, and we had a good time, as far as I can remember. As for Manilla, it looked like the Unites States gone bad. Very bad. Slums, sewage, and lots of chubby boys. NOT the idyllic gay Asian spot one imagines.

Galle

I once had the gall to go to Galle, a beach town a couple of hours south of Colombo in Sri Lanka. The boys there are different than the gay Asian types we are used to in  Thailand, but some of them look very sweet indeed. Very dark skin. It is a bit of a long and bumpy ride from Colombo airport to Galle, but worth it. The area around the Ford has boys playing cricket. Cute!

Taipei

Among Asian countries, Taiwan is supposedly quite progressive where it matters: gay rights. I went to Taipei once a few years ago, but did not notice much gay life. Luckily I had made an Internet date before arrival, or I would have been starved of my dose of gay Asian sex. It all seems rather in the closeted. And cute boys are few and far between, compared to Bangkok. They do have the tallest phallus in the world: Taipei 101.

Tokyo

Shinjuku in Tokyo. This gay Asian mecca is full of tiny and cute little gay bars. At some of them you may find hosts to entertain you, at others you have to find your own. I once met a black guy in one of those bars. He was very handsome, and I could have a conversation with him. Not alone among Asians, the Japanese seem embarrassed to speak English. Anyway, we did all the things gay boys do, and the next day I went on to Kyoto never to see him again.

Shanghai

One time I almost went to Shanghai but SARS interfered and I never went. Yet. China must have the most gay Asians in the world, so I'd think Shanghai could be a nice little adventure if you like Chinese weenies. I wouldn't mind tasting a factory worker's sausage, or two, or three, or four!

Saigon

In Saigon, or HCMC as it is also known, I once almost lost my passport, wallet and other valuables to a gang of street kids. Luckily I was just in time to push a little tyke's hand out of my pocket! Lots of my gay friends have visited Vietnam, but I have yet to hear the first story from someone who says it's a gayer place to be than Thailand, the gay Asian paradise. I didn't like Vietnam much and prefer Cambodia or Laos.

Rangoon

This sad yet beautiful place could be a center of gay Asian life, but alas, it is ruled by a murderous mob that only cares about itself. The Burmese boys I've met are all such gentle and sweet people, and it is clear they feel oppressed and want to get out of their situation. But as long as the despots ruling the place are willing to use guns against their own citizens, nothing will ever change there. That said, I once got a very erotic massage from a hotel concierge in Rangoon. Another experience in my gay Asian life!

Kuala Lumpur

A friend of a friend of mine raves about the gay Asian life in this tropical city. It is a feast of flesh. On the other hand I read horror stories about gay saunas being raided and what not. All in all, that makes me want to give this Asian city a pass. Better move on to that gay Asian paradise, Bangkok

Bali

Probably the gayest place in the largest of South East Asian nations. In the main tourist area there are a few gay Asian bars. One of them even has a tacky drag show. It's nothing like what you can find the capital of gay Asian sleaze, Bangkok. But, it has a rather laid back feel to it. Most of the trade is from Java. Different than their gay Asian cousins from the island itself.
